Gur prices climb in Delhi, Muzaffarnagar

Gur (jaggery) prices soared by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following speculative buying by stockists and retailers amid halt in supplies.
Muzaffarnagar gur market also showed a firm trend with prices rising by Rs 50 per quintal on paucity of stocks.
Marketmen said besides strong buying activity, fall in arrivals from manufacturing belts due to adverse weather conditions, pushed up the gur prices in Delhi and Muzaffarnagar.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and Dhayya prices shot up by Rs 100 per quintal to settle the day at Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,100- 3,200 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur Khrupa prices enquired higher by Rs 50 to finish the day at Rs 2,850-2,900 per quintal.
Elsewhere, other gur varities ruled flat on little doings.
