Gur prices shot up by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital following paucity of stocks following fall in supplies from manufacturing areas amid speculative buying.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also notched up gains of up to Rs 250 per quintal.
Marketmen said lower production due to less availability as sugar-cane and diversion of supplies to sugar mills at higher levels mainly attributed rise in gur prices.
Besides, brisk buying by stockists and retailers, too supported the upside, they added.
