Gur prices up on brisk buying, restrict supply

The wholesale jaggery prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today following heavy buying amid restricted supply.
Muzaffarnagar gur markets also depicted a sharp gains up to Rs 150 per quintal on paucity of stocks.
Marketmen said fall in production due to bad weather conditions in manufacturing areas against increased buying by stockist and retailers, mainly brought the rise in gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and Shakkar prices spurted by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal, while Pedi prices rose by Rs 50 at Rs 2,800-2,900 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, Brisk demand from beer and cattle feed makers amid thin supply mainly edged up gur Raskat prices by Rs 150 at Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal.
Gur Chakku prices climbed up by Rs 100 at Rs 2,650-2,750 per quintal, while prices of khurpa and ladoo prices gained by Rs 50 each at Rs 2,500-2,550 and Rs 2,550-2,650 per quintal.

Gur chakku 2,700-2,800, pedi 2,750-2,850, dhayya 2,900-3,000 and shakkar 2,900-3,000.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,300-2,350, chakku 2,550-2,650, khurpa 2,450-2,500 and Ladoo 2,500-2,600.
Muradnagar: Pedi 2,450-2,500 and dhayya 2,450-2,500.
