Gur prices up on support from buyers amid paucity of stocks

Gur prices edged higher by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following speculative buying by stockists as well as retailers amid paucity of stocks.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a better trend and prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal on restricted arrivals.
Marketmen said fall in supplies from manufacturing areas due to less availabilities of sugar-cane, mainly pushed up gur prices.
Higher advices from neighboring states also boosted trading sentiments to some extent, they added.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and Pedi prices rose by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur Raskat remained firm due to seasonal demand from beer makers amid tight arrivals and spurted by Rs 100 to Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal.

Gur Laddoo prices also enquired higher at Rs 2,600-2,725 from Rs 2,500-2,650 per quintal.
Meanwhile Chakku and Khurpa prices were higher by Rs 50 each at Rs 2,400-2,750 and Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal.
Coming to Muradnagar, here also prices of gur Pedi and Dhayya improved by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,600-2,650 and Rs 2,700-2,750 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,100-3,200 and shakkar Rs 3,200-3,300.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,450, chakku Rs 2,400-2,750, khurpa Rs 2,400-2,450 and Ladoo Rs 2,600-2,725.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,600-2,650 and dhayya Rs 2,700-2,750.
