Gur prices up on tight supply, speculative buying

Gur pedi prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today following tight arrivals amid better offtake.
Elsewhere, other gur varieties in Delhi asked at overnight levels in thin trade.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a rise of up to Rs 100 per quintal on paucity of stocks and immense buying.
Marketmen said a drop in arrivals from manufacturing belts due to deteriorating weather, sparked by speculative buying mainly pushed up gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Pedi prices hardened by Rs 100 to end the day at Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar gur Khurpa prices improved from Rs 2,600-2,650 to close at Rs 2,650-2,750 per quintal.

Coming to Muradnagar, gur Pedi and Dhayya prices traded higher from Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 2,900-2,950 to conclude at Rs 2,900-2,950 and Rs 2,950-3,000 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, pedi Rs 3,100-3,200, dhayya Rs 3,200-3,300 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,450-2,500, chakku Rs 2,550- 2,950, khurpa Rs 2,650-2,750 and Ladoo Rs 2,850-2,900.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,900-2950 and dhayya Rs 2,950- 3,000.
