Gur surges on paucity of stocks

Gur prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale Jaggery market in the national capital today on paucity of stocks amid heavy buying.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also shot up to Rs 300 per quintal on negligible arrivals.
Marketmen said increased buying by stockists and retailers against restricted supply mainly pushed up gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Dhayya and Shakkar prices jumped by Rs 200 each to Rs 3,200-3,300 and Rs 3,300-3,400 per quintal.
Gur chakku and Pedi prices gained Rs 100 each to close at Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur Khurpa prices edged up from Rs 2,500-2,550 to end at Rs 2,700-2,800, resulting net profits up to Rs 250 per quintal.
Similarly, gur Ladoo prices enquired higher at Rs 2,750-2,900 from Rs 2,625-2,800 per quintal, while Chakku prices moved up by Rs 50 to Rs 2,650-2,900 per quintal.

Turning to Muradnagar, prices of gur Pedi and Dhayya spurted to settle at Rs 2,700-2,750 and Rs 2,800-2,850 compared to Rs 2,550-2,575 and Rs 2,500-2,550, showing sharp profits upto Rs 300 per quintal.
Following are today's rates per quintal:
Gur chakku 3,000-3,100, pedi 3,000-3,100, dhayya 3,200-3,300 and shakkar 3,300-3,400.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,550-2,600, chakku 2,650-2,900, khurpa 2,700-2,800 and Ladoo 2,750-2,900.
Muradnagar: Pedi 2,700-2,750 and dhayya 2,800-2,850.
