Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHTP) in Punjab got awarded today for the good performance of the unit for two consecutive years -- 2011-12 and 2012-13.
The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi, according to an official release.
GHTP has shown excellent performance and huge savings have been made in terms of earning incentives by performing better than PSERC (Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission) targets, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) CMD K D Chaudhri was quoted as saying in the release.
He said during 2011-12, GHTP generated a record 76,212 lakh units as against the target of 68,370 lakh units set by Central Electricity Authority.
Plant load factor of 94.31 per cent achieved by GHTP was the highest amongst all state sector power plants of the country.
"Had there been no backdown of the units due to low system demand, GHTP would have achieved an ever highest generation of more than 80,000 lakh units at a plant load factor of 99.07 per cent," Chaudhri said.
Average monthly plant load factor remained more than 100 per cent during the second half of 2011-12.
In order to further cut costs, the capital overhauling period has been cut to as low as 28.5 days and annual overhauling period to less than 14 days, resulting into huge savings by PSPCL in terms of power purchase, he added.
