Guv inaugurates Calicut coop urban bank centenary
Press Trust of India Kozhikode Kerala Governor P Sathasivam today lauded the Calicut Co-operative Urban bank on its centenary, noting that it has developed into one of the top five banks in the sector in the state since its inception n 1915.
Inaugurating the centenary celebrations of the bank here, he said the bank was started in 1915 with a share capital of just Rs 1,075 in a rented building and had now grown into one of the top five urban co-operative banks in the state.
Its share capital has now risen to Rs 11 crores and membership to more than 76,000, he said adding this showed the tireless efforts of the bank and the support extended by the people.
M K Raghavan, MP, MLAs Pradipkumar and Elamaram Karim and Kozhikode Mayor Prof A K Premajam were among those who spoke on the occasion.
