''The festival aims to bring together young and senior writers, journalists and intellectuals of Assam and its neighbours along with writers from different parts of the country'', GLF 2014 Chairman Dr D J Borah said today.
The festival would include a set of programmes representing various aspects of emerging literary trends at both national and international level, he said.
Different issues of literature, society, ethnicity and environment that confront a writer in this fast changing world will be discussed between senior and emerging writers.
''We hope that during the three days, literary personalities will interact, exchange ideas, thoughts and above all friendship'', Borah added.
Eminent writers Namita Gokhale, Urvashi Butalia, Rakshananda Jalil, Antara Dev Sen, Jerry Pinto, Arup Kumar Dutta, Mamang Dai, Janice Pariat, Mitra Phukan, Arupa Patangia Kalita, Anuradha Sarma Pujari, Pushpesh Pant along with journalists Mark Tully and Arnab Goswami among others were scheduled to attend the festival.
The day-long sessions will include among others discussions on writings on North East, Myth, society and storytelling, interrogating social reality through cartoons, dynamics of publishing, changing social and cultural trends in China with focus on writing, literature from a conflict zone, indigenous literature and progressive trends in Urdu literature.
