Gwladys, Holly in fray as Women's Indian Open debuts at DGC

Ace international golfers Gwladys Nocera and Holly Clyburn and the cream of Indian women's golf will be seen in action when the USD 3,00,000 Hero Women's Indian Open is held at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) from November 28 to 30.
Tri-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET), the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT) and Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI) - the Indian OPen will also see the LPGA Symetra Tour Money leader PK Kongkraphan of Thailand in action.
The 7th edition of the tournament, which for the first time will be hosted at the historic DGC, will have a stellar playing field of 108 golfers -- 105 professionals and three amateurs -- from more than 30 countries.
Among the Indian golfers in fray, Sharmila Nicollet, who is the youngest Indian to have qualified for the LET, current Hero Order of Merit leader Neha Tripathi and Smriti Mehra, a former LPGA player, will spearhead the challenge, while young stars like Vani Kapoor, Saaniya Sharma and Ankita Tiwana will also be adding strength to the Indian challenge.
"Indian women's golfers have progessed a lot in the last few years and I hope the Indians such as Vani and Neha do well in the event this year," said champika Sayal, secretary general at Women's Golf Association of India.
Ladies European Tour (LET) star Gwladys of France had a great season last year with a 5th position finish at the Gold Coast RACV Ladies Masters and Tied 5th at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. She is currently placed fourth in the ISPS Handa Order of Merit 2013 with total earnings of Euro 150,894 from 19 appearances.
Internationally-renowned marquee player, Holly Clyburn, on the other hand, is currently placed sixth in the ISPS Handa Order of Merit 2013 with total earnings of Euro 109,181 from 14 appearances.
