The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) today successfully carried out demolition of an unauthorised building through 'implosion technology'.
The GHMC attempted implosion of the building at Guttala Begumpet here on May 8, but it was partially successful.
"The GHMC has carried out implosion on May 8 of an unauthorised construction of Stilt + 5 floors made in the FTL (Full Tank Level)/ Buffer zone of Sunnam Cheruvu (a tank) at Plot No.22, SIET Colony, Guttala Begumpet, Serilingampally on experimental basis with a technology of implosion and the demolition was partially successful due to some reasons," GHMC said in a release today.
The GHMC, however, obtained the views of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University (JNTU) here and ensured that the building is structurally stable, before taking up implosion today, it said.
Brick walls were manually removed before demolition today, it said.
"Based on today's successful experience, GHMC will certainly use this technology for demolishing illegally constructed buildings of any height," another release from the civic body said.
