"Jai Ho Democracy" is a political satire written and directed by Annu's brother Ranjit Kapoor, who was the dialogue writer of classic comedy film "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro".
The film also stars Satish Kaushik, Adil Hussain and Seema Biswas in pivotal roles.
"I had a great time working with Om Puri. He is my senior from National School of Drama. Not only him, the whole cast of the film was perfect, hardcore professional and devoted. Nobody would bring any petty ego into the work," Annu told PTI.
"I play a South Indian man, Arvind Kumar. He is a great manipulator. There are people in Indian politics today those who will always be in the limelight, those who will manoeuvre their careers in such a manner that they will always be in the ruling side. Arvind Kumar is like that," Annu said.

The funnyman played a chaste Urdu speaking Muslim in his last Bollywood outing "Dharam Sankat Mein".
The actor said the transition from that role to the character of Arvind was smooth as he is very comfortable with different dialects and accents.
"So, diversity runs in my family. With due respect to everyone, not many will have the opportunity to convey their characters linguistically with so much finesse and perfection. Credit goes to my background, my parents.
