Pakistan's senior all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will know tomorrow if he can make the Test series against Australia after undergoing a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy.
According to the chief medical and health officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Hafeez has resumed batting in the nets with the help of a support in his left hand.
"Hafeez injured his hand while practice in the UAE before the series against Australia. The web space between the left thumb and index was deeply lacerated," Doctor Sohail Saleem said.
"We later found out, the wound required suturing while the underlying musculature appeared intact. He received five stitches and the hand was appropriately dressed.
Saleem said ever since Hafeez returned to Pakistan he was resting his hand. "But his hand has been examined on October 11 and his stitches have been removed and the wound looks dry and has healed well," he added.
He has also not complained of pain and he was advised to start batting from Monday with the help of a support to protect his hand while fielding.
Saleem said another injured player Junaid Khan would also undergo another examination tomorrow for his right knee injury.
