Handloom weavers stage demo in support of charter of demands

Handloom Weavers in Puducherry affiliated to the AITUC today abstained from work, took out a procession and staged a demonstration near the Assembly in support of their charter of demands.
General Secretary of AITUC V S Abishegam, wholed he procession and demonstration, asked the administration to take steps to protect the handloom sector.
Speaking to reporters later, he alleged that government was also ignoring them.
Their demands include pension for the aged weavers and infrastructure facilities.
