'Happy to be associated with Malayalam film: Iranian actor

Iranian actor Reem Kadem today said that it was an amazing experience to be part of Malayalam film 'Naval Enna Jewel', based on a story in her country.
Kadem, who played a key role in the Renji Lal Damodaran directed film, said it was her debut in Indian cinema.
"The film has a powerful message. It is about women who seeks freedom, justice and rights", she said.
'Naval Enna Jewel' is the story of Asma, essayed by noted actress Swetha Menon and her daughter Naval, played by Kadem. Renji Lal said the story revolves around the marriage of a 68-year-old Arab to a Kerala woman and the events in the life of their daughter Naval, who has an Iranian lineage.
Naval is an Indian-Iranian young woman who suffers humiliation in her country and fights against all odds including male domination, for women's empowerment, he said.
The film is stated for an August 11 release.

The English version would also would be released,he said.
"It is the story of women's empowerment and atrocities against women', Lal, also the co-producer, said.
Noted Bollywood actor Adil Hussain who does a prominent role as an Iranian government official in the film, said that this was a story that has to be told in India.
"It talks about gender equality and mutual respect", Hussain said.
