His party was earlier reportedly miffed with the portfolio offered to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Geete took charge of the ministry on May 28.
Talking to PTI on phone from Alibag in Raigad district, Geete said, "I am happy with the portfolio I am allotted and I will do my best for a smooth and efficient functioning of the ministry."
Geete, a veteran Shiv Sena leader, was Union Power Minister in the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's cabinet.
