Har approves policy for workers suffering from Silicosis

The Haryana government has approved an integrated policy that would provide free treatment, investigations and medicines to workers suffering from Silicosis at ESI and district hospitals and medical colleges in the state.
Stating this here today, Haryana's Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nayab Singh said the policy would ensure treatment, compensation, rehabilitation and have provision of various welfare measures for the workers suffering from Silicosis.
"If the Silicosis Diagnosis Board of Haryana confirms any worker to be suffering from Silicosis, the worker would be covered under this policy," he said.
Silicosis is a lung disease caused by inhalation of crystalline silica dust and is marked by inflammation and scarring in the form of nodular lesions in the lobes of lungs and is categorised as a type of pneumoconiosis, an official release said.
This policy is applicable only for those working in factories and at construction sites, it said.
All functions pertaining to the implementation of welfare measures and execution of the policy will be performed by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, the release said.
