Har govt increases compensation for disaster victims

While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Revenue and Disaster Management Department said that the compensation norms have been revised for this purpose.

As per the revised norms, in case of loss of a camel due to natural calamity, the farmer would get Rs 16,400 as against the earlier compensation of Rs 10,000.

Similarly, the compensation for loss of horse, bullock, buffalo, cow, donkey and mule, too have been raised, he said.

He said the compensation amount given for fully damaged thatched house had been enhanced to Rs 15,000 per house.

The relief would be admissible to those persons who could not opt for insurance and were unable to bear the loss, he said.
