Haryana government is preparing a policy to engage retired teachers in vacancies caused by long term leaves such as maternity and child care leave taken by teachers of government schools.
Haryana Education minister Geeta Bhukkal said this while replying to a question of Congress MLA Sampat Singh during the first day of monsoon session of the Assembly today.
The government is also considering to make a new policy for making a pool of private teachers, so that studies are not affected due to absence of teachers, she said.
Giving clarification about bad result of students of class X in government schools, she said with implementation of Right to Education Act, the board examination for VIII standard has been discontinued.
On the basis of constant evaluation, students are passed to next classes instead of failing them.
The minister said, during 2013, the result of Xth standard in government schools was 40.93 per cent as against 61.19 per cent in private schools.
Cases of reappearance in one or two subjects in government schools were 34.48 per cent which is likely to improve in coming times, she said.
