Four persons, including a woman, were booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of a rickshaw puller in industrial town here.
Kunan Singh, a resident of Murgi Mohalla area, allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance last night, police said.
According to the complaint filed by Singh's wife, Ranjit Kaur, he was upset over the threats of moneylender, from whom he had borrowed some money.
Kaur claimed that though they had returned the borrowed amount, "Singh, along with his family members, used to come to their house for the money."
"Unable to bear the tension, her husband consumed some poisonous substance last evening," she said in the complaint.
Kunan was rushed to a local civil hospital but seeing his serious condition, the doctors referred him to Guru Nanak hospital, Amritsar, where he died late night.
"On the statement of Kaur, the police had registered a case against Mohan Singh, his wife, Kashmir Kaur, his son Shemsher Singh and nephew, Harwant Singh," SHO, Civil Lines area, K P Singh said.
