Deputy Sarpanch of Harisal village in Maharashtra Monday countered Raj Thackeray's claim of dysfunctional services at the first digital village by going live on Facebook.

He accused the MNS chief of "maligning" the image of the village.

The deputy Sarpanch Ganesh Yevale did a walk-through in a digital training laboratory which conducts some accounting courses in the village.

"Raj Thackeray has maligned the image of Harisal. Thackeray brought people from outside and showcased (them) in his rallies to further dent this image," alleged Yevale.

He also conducted a couple of short interviews of the students learning in the lab, who maintained that they have been getting good internet connectivity for more than six months.

Addressing a rally in Solapur recently, Thackeray had called a man from the village on stage, who had acted in the "Me Labharthi" advertisement of the state government, and alleged that the government's claims of the digital village were false.
