The Governor was presiding over 38th Annual General Meeting of the State Council of Haryana State Bharat Scouts and Guides at Raj Bhavan here today and a budget of Rs 4.52 Crore for the years 2014-15 and 2015-16 was approved to promote activities of Bharat Scouts and Guides in Haryana, an official release said.
The Governor, as per release, said that out of over 53.64 lakh Scouts and Guides in the country, there were about 7.44 lakh Scouts and Guides from the state.
The Governor congratulated the Council for winning eight National Awards for its "excellent performance" in various events and activities during the year 2013-14 which was the "highest number of awards" in the country leaving behind big states, the release said.
He said that this community works for national integration rising above the discrimination of caste, class, religion and creed.
Bharat Scouts and Guides should also lend a helping hand in other public welfare works including blood donation, tree plantation and population control, the Governor said.
