The report submitted by Chairman of the commission, retired Justice K C Gupta has urged the state government to include five castes Jat, Jat Sikh, Bishnoi, Ror and Tyagi in special Backward Classes and give them 10 per cent reservation, he said.
This reservation would be in addition to the 27 per cent reservation already being given to Backward Classes, Hooda said after chairing a meeting of the state cabinet.
The Council of Ministers further decided that the recommendations of the Commission regarding inclusion of Jat, Jat Sikh, Bishnoi, Ror and Tyagi castes in the central list of Haryana state may be taken up with Union Government immediately so that they can get reservation benefit in the jobs of Central Government.
Regarding reservation for Economically Backward Categories, Hooda said the Commission has also recommended 10 per cent separate reservation to economically backward categories that is Below Poverty Line families of general category and other economically weaker castes.
He said the state government has constituted a six-member sub committee headed by Finance Minister, H S Chattha to consider the recommendations of the Commission in respect of reservation for economically backward persons in general category and suggest specific programmes for economic uplift of special Backward Classes as suggested by the Commission.
The Cabinet also decided that Commission be requested to give the detailed report about the criteria and mechanism about reservation for economically backward persons expeditiously.
The Council of Ministers decided that the existing criteria for exclusion of creamy layer as applicable to the reservation in Backward Classes be adopted for the purpose of reservation for special Backward Classes as recommended by the Commission.
