The top eight teams of the World Championships automatically qualify for the World Cup and India finished sixth in rankings in the just-concluded tournament in Budapest.
In a statement issued here today, Hooda said it is for the first time that India has qualified for the mega-event.
He said that two wrestlers from Haryana -- Amit Dahiya and Bajrang -- has exhibited outstanding performance in the World Championships and hoped that they will make the state proud in future as well.
The Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sukhbir Kataria also extended her best wishes and congratulations to Indian wrestling team for qualifying for the World Cup.
