Holding that Gurgaon, Faridabad and Sonepat districts adjoining the national capital need the same level of policing as Delhi, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today sought a special package for his state's police force from the Centre.
He made this demand in his speech at the Conference of Chief Ministers on Internal Security held here.
Gurgaon, Faridabad and Sonepat districts had witnessed rapid economic growth and attracted huge investments from within the country and abroad, he said, adding that these cities needed the same level of policing as Delhi.
"At present, police population ratio of these cities is less than 50 percent of Delhi. Haryana state is a buffer for safety and security of Delhi and as such Haryana police has to remain active to tackle the problems connected with the National Capital Territory, Delhi," he said.
Hooda requested the Prime Minister to sanction a special financial package to meet the challenges of the National Capital Region (NCR) districts.
