Haryana completes preparations for GST: state Fin Minister

Haryana is amongst the first five states of the country to have completed preparations for implementing Goods and Services Tax (GST) from April 1, 2017, Haryana Finance Minister Abhimanyu said today.
After presiding a meeting with representatives of Sales Tax Bar Association here, he said a revolutionary campaign has been started to bring about financial improvements in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that GST is a major initiative towards executing a common tax system for the country and simplification of tax system between the Center and States.
The demonetization of currency notes of Rs 500 and 1000 has helped in putting a check on black money and fake currency he said, adding that it would not only strengthen the country financially, but would also strengthen it strategically.
Even the citizens of the nation are lending full cooperation to the government in combating black money just like war soldiers, the Minister said.
Abhimanyu said that in the last two years, the Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has made the administrative system more transparent and corruption free through the use of Information Technology.

He said that he got strong feedback about computerisation of Excise and Taxation Department from representatives of Haryana Sales Tax Bar Association.
He said that with a view to redress the grievances related to computerization, a meeting of Excise and Taxation Department and representatives of Sales Tax Bar association and selected dealers would be organized in Chandigarh.
State Convener of Haryana Sales Tax Bar Association Ram Narayan Yadav today put forth his demands before him.
