Emergency medical services in Haryana, presently being provided through the toll-free number 102, will now be shifted to 108.
The number 102 is currently operational in referral transport control rooms in districts for receiving calls and dispatching ambulances for transporting patients from site to health facility or from health facility to the patient's residence.
While stating this today in a release, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Haryana, Amneet P Kumar, said that as 108 was operational across the country as the helpline for emergency services, it would also be implemented in Haryana.
All civil surgeons have been directed to designate nodal officer for the operationalisation of toll-free number 108 for referral transport services in their respective districts.
She said awareness activities will be carried out in the districts up to village level to make people aware about the change.
All civil surgeons have been directed to follow the timeline and send the compliance report to state headquarters.
"After implementation, patients will be able to avail ambulance services by dialling 108 from their number anywhere in Haryana," she added.
