Haryana ends day with five gold, one silver and three bronze

Promising Indian wrestler Amit Dhankar began the season on a high as the 24-year-old led Haryana's gold rush on the opening day of the 58th Senior National Championship at Kshudiram Anushilan Kendra here today.
Dhankar, who won the Asian Championship gold for a best ever Indian showing in the continental meet in April this year, got the better of Arun Kumar of Delhi in the 66kg category as Haryana ended the day with five gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the three-day meet.
Ravinder Singh (60kg Greco-Roman) and the women trio of Nirmala (48kg), Pooja Dhanda (55kg) and Shakshi Malik (63kg) fetched Haryana the other four gold medals in their respective sections.
