Haryana FDA finds food samples flawed

The Haryana Food and Drugs Administration Department (FDA) inspected 24 samples of loose and canned food products and beverages in the state, out of which maximum samples were found unsafe, substandard and misbranded.
Following the directions of Haryana Health Minister, Anil Vij, the department has collected samples from various districts of the state, an official release said.
The department is planning to take strict action against concerned companies and its officials, it said.
As per the release, Vij said that the sample of Khoya kept in open and collected by FDA from Fatehabad was not up to the mark.
Similarly, samples of cow milk being sold loose and two samples of Abhinandan Desi Ghee taken from Kurukshetra were found to be substandard, the release said.
Also, the samples of mango shake taken from Panipat, ice cream being sold loose at Kurukshetra, three samples of mixed milk and cow milk from Kaithal and tomato juice being sold loose at Palwal could not meet the standards.

The Health Minister said that apart from this, the samples of mineral water 'Thanda Jal Brand' and 'Shri Om Brand' were found unsafe.
He said that two samples of Mirinda of 'Coca Cola Company' taken from Hissar were found misbranded.
Likewise, samples of Doaba Desi Ghee, Easy Max Brand Desi Ghee and Flavored Milk collected from Hissar, samples of 'Leeladhar Brand' Desi Ghee, Madhusudan Brand Desi Ghee taken from Gurgaon and samples of sweetened carbonated beverage 'Mast 3 Orange Brand' collected from Kurukshetra were found misbranded.
Vij said that the State Government is committed towards providing high quality food products for better health of the people. Therefore, sampling of all loose and canned food and beverage products is being carried out in the state on regular basis, the release added.
