Haryana govt gives Rs 50 lakh each to slain jawans' families

The Haryana government today released financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh each for the families of two jawans of the state who were killed in a Naxal attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on April 24.
Stating this here, a spokesman of the Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department said Assistant Sub-inspector, CRPF, Naresh Kumar, a native of Jainpur Tikaula village in Sonepat district, and Constable Ram Mehar, a native of Kheri Man Singh village in Karnal district, were killed in the Naxal attack.
A cheque of Rs 50 lakh was handed over by the Sonepat Deputy Commissioner to the family members of Kumar, he added.
The department had also released Rs 50 lakh, to be given to the Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, who will hand over the cheque to the family of Mehar tomorrow morning, said the spokesman.
At least 25 Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and six wounded in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on April 24, the deadliest attack by naxalites targeting security forces this year.
