The Haryana government has decided to implement a new insurance scheme to provide a cover of Rs one lakh in case of accidental death and disability, an official said today.
The scheme 'Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Durghtana Sahayta Yojana' is free of cost and no premium or consideration of any kind will be payable by the eligible beneficiaries, a spokesman of Social Justice and Empowerment Department said.
A notification has been issued in this regard, he said.
He said it is an insurance scheme offering cover for death or disability on account of an accident.
The benefit under the scheme would be Rs one lakh, he said.
The scope of coverage under the new scheme would be limited to Haryana domiciles and residents of the state who are or were not able to avail the benefit under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana whether due to non-enrolment or otherwise, he said.
The spokesman said that any person in the age group of 18 to 70 years having domiciled and resident of Haryana is eligible under the scheme, provided the person was not enrolled at the time of accident under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
He made it clear that no claim would be entertained if submitted six months after the date of death or 12 months after the date of accident, whichever is earlier.
