Haryana govt increases minimum wages of workers

The Haryana government today increased the minimum wages of workers by Rs 129.36 per month with retrospective effect from July 1.
The decision would benefit more than 11.5 lakh labourers working in factories, shops, dhabas, small undertakings and brick-kilns in the state, a press release said here.
An unskilled labourer would now get a minimum wage of Rs 205.44 per day as against Rs 76.08 they used to get earlier. Similarly, skilled labourers would now get minimum Rs 220.44 per day and highly skilled workers would now get minimum Rs 230.44 per day, it said.
There are 7.5 lakh workers in about 11,500 large and small-scale industries in the state, whereas four lakh people are employed in shops, dhabas and other small undertakings, the release said.
