Haryana govt issues directions for efficient use of energy

Haryana Government has issued directions under the Energy Conservation Act 2001 for efficient use of energy and its conservation in the State.
The use of incandescent lamps and purchase of new sodium vapour lamps and lights by government sector or government aided-sector or boards and corporations or autonomous bodies of the State is banned, an official release said here today.
The use of Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps, tube lights and energy efficient lighting would be mandatory for all new Central or State Government offices and PSUs.
The Power Utilities would affect necessary modifications in the load demand notices within two months time to promote the use of LED lamps, tube lights and energy efficient lighting system while releasing or sanctioning new connections or loads.
The consumers of existing buildings like Government offices and PSU institutions located in the State would replace all the defective conventional bulbs, conventional tube lights, CFLs and T-5 tube light only by LED lamps, tube lights and or energy efficient lighting system, the release further said.
Similarly, the electricity consumers in industrial, commercial and institutional sectors having connected load of 30 kw or above would have to replace all conventional bulbs, tube lights, CFLs and T-5 tube lights in their establishments with LED lamps, tube lights or energy efficient lighting system within one year, at their own cost.
The inspecting officer appointed by the State Designated Agency under Energy Conservation Act 2001, may exercise power vested under the Act for the purpose of compliance of these directions, the release added.
