The scheme is in accordance with the announcement made by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on March 8, a spokesperson of state Women and Child Development Department said today.
Under the scheme, the first girl child born on or after January 22, 2015 in a scheduled caste and below poverty line family would be eligible to receive a one time grant of Rs 21,000, he said.
All families whose second girl child was born on or after the aforesaid date would also receive a one time grant of Rs 21,000, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, income and number of sons, the spokesperson said.
All families whose second girl child was born on or before January 21, 2015, would receive Rs 5,000 every year for five years, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, income and number of sons.

Similarly, in case of birth of twins or multiple girls on or before January 21, 2015, their families would be given Rs 2,500 per girl child every year for five years, he said.
The grant would be invested with the Life Insurance Corporation of India in the name of the girl child, and the sum would be given to the beneficiary when she turns 18, he said.
Registration of the pregnant women should be done at the nearest Aanganwadi Centre or with the Health Department, the spokesperson said, adding the birth of the girl child should also be registered.
He said that the funds would be released within one month of submission of completed application of the beneficiary through her mother, father or guardian.
In case the applicant is unable to submit the application form within the prescribed time, it can be submitted within one year after the birth of the beneficiary, the spokesperson added.
