A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here this evening, an official release said.
"The decision to increase this age limit has been taken on the basis of general public demand as it was felt that with grant of two years of re-employment to government employees after the superannuation of retirement, the retirement of the employee is likely to be seized for two years.
"Therefore, it would be in the interest of unemployed persons to grant them similar benefit to apply for government jobs by raising the age limit for entry into government service from 40 to 42 years across all categories," the release said.
Hooda, who has been holding a series of Cabinet meetings during the past one month announcing sops for various sections, told reporters today that the Cabinet has also decided that full pension will be allowed on completion of 20 years instead of 28 years of service.
