The Haryana government has increased the milk purchase rate to Rs 480 per kg from the earlier Rs 460, Minister of State for Cooperation Bikram Singh Yadav said today.
The subsidy of Rs 4 per litre will continue under Mukhya Mantri Dugdh Utpadak Protsahan Yojana and milk producers will get a total rate of Rs 540 per kg of fat.
The Minister, who reviewed the functioning of the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation and its affiliated unions, said that for the first time, milk of desi cow would be collected, processed, packed and marketed separately by the Federation at Milk Plant, Kurukshetra, for which requisite infrastructure would be put in place.
He also spoke of plans to launch new products.
To check adulteration, the minister said proper testing facilities will be provided at the village level, and union committees will be formed.
The minister said it has also been decided that all milk producers of 36 societies in six milk unions would get their payment through cheques from June 2015. At present, the payment is being done through banks.
The insurance scheme for milk producers, which started from March 1, 2015, should be further extended to benefit another 50,000 who are not registered with societies, he suggested.
The Minister also touched upon plans to modernise and upgrade all milk chilling centres and milk bars through addition of re-creational facilities.
