Haryana govt signs MoU with Israel govt company

The Haryana government today signed an agreement with Mekorot Development and Enterprises , a Government of Israel Company for joint development of dual pipeline project in order to re-use and recycle sewage water after treatment with dual piping system.
The MoU was signed by Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health and Engineering Department, Sarban Singh on behalf of the state and Indian representative of the Company, Mahesh Gandhi on behalf of Mekorot.
The MoU was signed in presence of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Public Health Engineering Minister, Kiran Choudhry, an official release said here.
Mekorot is a subsidiary of Mekorot Water Company responsible for managing water and related assets and issues throughout Israel, it said, adding, the company has extensive know-how, experience, capability and expertise in the management,operation and execution of water and waste water projects.
The Haryana government has nominated Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) as Nodal Agency to rejuvenate and remodel the existing water supply system in Haryana by upgradation of the existing water supply infrastructure by introducing 'Dual Pipeline System' in the state.
The expertise of MEKOROT would be used in implementing important water related projects in Haryana by dual piping system--one for potable water and second for reuse of sewage after treatment for other purposes.
The objectives of the agreement are to develop feasible project of reuse of wastewater for industrial, residential and agricultural use and supporting conservation of water by replacing drinking water or fresh water being supplied for non-consumptive use with reclaimed water, the release added.
