Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today appointed an Inquiry Officer (IO) to probe against the Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur regarding alleged irregularities in the selection process of various teaching and non-teaching posts of the varsity.
The Governor, who is also the Chancellor of Universities of the state, appointed Principal Secretary, Cooperation, Sudhir Rajpal as an Inquiry Officer to hold a regular departmental inquiry against Vice Chancellor Mohinder Kumar under Section 11 (4) of the Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur Act, 2013 regarding the alleged irregularities.
As per the provisions of the Act, the Chancellor may on the advice of the Government cause an inquiry to be held in accordance with the principles of natural justice and remove the Vice Chancellor from office, if he is found, on such inquiry, to be a person patently unfit to be continued in such office.
"A preliminary examination of facts and record regarding these recruitment indicates prima facie that the exercise of the selection of various teaching and non-teaching posts by Vice Chancellor Mohinder Kumar smacks of undue haste, lacks transparency and indicates serious irregularities thereby vitiating the entire selection process," an official release said here today.
Mohinder Kumar, a retired IAS officer, was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur in Rewari district, by the previous Congress regime in September 2013 for a three-year term.
