Besides, the minimum daily wage has been hiked by Rs 6.66.
With this enhancement, an unskilled labourer would get a minimum wage of Rs 5,812.75 per month, a spokesman of Labour Department said here today.
He said these wages have been raised in view of 75 points increase in price index and would be effective from January 1, 2015.
The spokesman said the government has made a provision in the Minimum Wages Act to fix minimum wages on the basis of Consumer Price Index for those working in more than 48 declared scheduled employments, industries and shops.

He added that in case of unskilled labourers, the monthly wage would be Rs 5,812.75 and the daily wage would be Rs 223.56.
In case of semi-skilled labourers (A) category, these would be Rs 5,942.75 and Rs 228.56, respectively.
Similarly, in case of semi skilled (B) labourers, the wage would be Rs 6,072.75 per month and Rs 233.56 per day.
A highly skilled labourer would get a monthly wage of Rs 6,462.75 and a daily wage of Rs 248.56.
