"Punjab police had sought Haryana police's assistance in the case and we have provided the help to them," Haryana Director General of Police S N Vashisht told reporters here.
Vashisht was here to inaugurate a multi-story building of 14 flats constructed for the Assistance Commissioner of Police (ACP) level officers.
However, he did not elaborate on the kind of assistance which was sought by the Punjab Police.
The DGP further clarified that as Punjab police is investigating the case, there is no need for Haryana police to initiate investigation or to take "any step against its (Haryana Police) official" at this stage.
Later, Ram Singh, a head constable with Punjab police and also Vijender's roommate was expelled from the National Institute of Sports (NIS) camp after admitting that he had consumed drugs with Vijender on several occasions.
However, the 27-year-old boxer has denied any involvement in the illegal drugs trade or to taking drugs.
