Police officers, including senior cops, will visit all villages and towns under their respective jurisdiction to ascertain the activities of these people, an official release quoting DGP R S Dalal said today.
Dalal, after interacting with top state officials through video conferencing, said policemen will also remain in touch prominent persons in their areas to know the activities of such people, so that timely action could be taken against them in case they are found indulging in criminal activities.
He, however, claimed that crime against women in the state have reduced by 15 per cent this year.
Officials have been asked to take along the heads of educational institutes for women in the drive, besides deploying police personnel in civil uniform around these colleges.
They have also been asked to conduct regular and surprise checking of farms, tubewell huts, small grocery shops and dhabas and strict action would be taken against those who were found involved in unauthorized sale of liquor, he said.
"Information will also be sought from girls about anyone trying to tease them. If such cases were found, the police will take action against such elements," he said.
Haryana has recently witnessed a spurt in crime against women including gangrape of a teenage Dalit in Hisar and a Class XII girl in Sonepat, besides rape of a married woman in Jind district, all within one month.
