The Haryana State Pollution Control Board today said that all industrial units which discharge effluent have been asked to meet the prescribed standards under the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986.
A spokesman of the Board said that the Supreme Court vide its order on February 22 had directed that all such units will make their primary effluent treatment plants fully operational to the required capacity to meet the prescribed standards before May 21, 2017.
The directives to discharge effluent will be applicable on the units which require "Consent to Operate" from the Board.
The pollution control body will conduct inspections after the deadline to verify whether such functional primarily effluent treatment plants have been installed as per the orders of the Supreme Court and will restrain the units from any further industrial activity who are found to be non-complying, he said.
