The six categories which still need the Board's consent include -- assembly of acid led battery, polythene and plastic processed products manufacturing, poultry, hatchery and piggery, printing press, ready mix concrete plants and mineralised water and carbonated bottling plants.

However, the exempt categories will have to install pollution control devices and in case of non compliance of these instructions, action would be taken against them as per law, an official release said.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of HSPCB.

Regarding the criteria for screening of plants, the Board has given some relaxation in parameters for plants operating before October 2, 2007, provided these units take pollution control measures such as three settling tanks and boundary wall of ten feet.

Provisional consent would be given to new units provided they fulfil required conditions.

On the grant of consent to units located in non-conforming areas, the Board has decided that those located in such areas would be considered on a year-to-year basis if they have installed necessary pollution control devices.
