Haryana Roadways win award for having lowest accident rates

The incidents of accidents in Haryana Roadways has come down from 0.21 per cent per one lakh kilometres in 1994-95 to 0.05 per cent per one lakh kilometres during 2014-15, state transport minister Ram Bilas Sharma said today.
Sharma shared this information as Haryana Roadways won the Union Transport Minister's Trophy for achieving lowest accident rate among all the State Road Transport Undertakings in Moffusil services for the year 2013-14.
Sharma received the Trophy and with cash award of Rs 1.50 lakh from Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today, an official statement said.
As per the statement, Sharma also said that the fleet of buses of Haryana Roadways has been increased to 4168 buses and it has been planned to further increase it to 4500 buses by the end of this financial year.
It is further planned to increase it upto 5000 buses by addition of 995 buses during the financial year 2015-16, the statement said.
Apart from this to provide better and most comfortable bus transport services to the passengers, the number of Volvo and Mercedes Super Luxury AC buses have been increased to 46, the statement said.
