Haryana to institute award to encourage new Urdu learners

Haryana government today announced to institute the 'Jagannath Pahadia Nau Aamoz Urdu Sahitya Award' to encourage new Urdu learners in the state.
The award will carry Rs 21,000 in cash and would be conferred upon those new Urdu learners who would be able to take themselves upto the level of recognition through their creativity in three years, an official release said here.
The announcement was made at a function here, in which Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia honoured 19 litterateurs for their contribution to further enrich Urdu language and literature in the state.
He also honoured eight Urdu writers on completion of 75 years of their age and for doing commendable work in promotion of Urdu language.
Congratulating the awardees, Pahadia said the litterateurs were not only working for promotion of Urdu language, but are also dedicated in serving the society.
He urged them to effectively use their writing to make people conscious of various social evils like female foeticide, crime against women and children.
"The society has a many expectations from litterateurs to guide them and also to explore ways and means to combat these problems," he added.
