Haryana power distribution companies have decided to supply electricity to 3,000 tube wells under the Micro Irrigation System.
The discoms, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has taken the decision to provide reliable and qualitative power to the agricultural consumers, a spokesman of the Discoms today said.
"The UHBVN would release 1500 tube well connections on priority basis in the areas having scanty rainfall," the spokesman said adding that "the new connections would be for those farmers who are adopting horticulture crops, especially perennial fruit crops with drip irrigation system in 50 per cent of total land holding."
A maximum of 166 tube well connections will be released in each circle.
"Test reports or certificate showing quality of soil and water suitable to the fruit crops and drip irrigation system will be mandatory along with the application to get the connection," he said.
A committee of members from both the horticulture and electricity departments would visit the site and verify the eligibility conditions of the farmers.
"This committee will monitor the connection twice a year and in case of any violation, the electricity connection would be disconnected," he said.
The expenditure of release of electric connection would be borne by the farmer, the spokesman added.
