The Haryana government today decided to review its Sports Gradation Policy to ensure that only "outstanding" sportspersons get jobs in its departments.
A decision to this effect was taken at a governing body meeting of Haryana Sports Development Fund chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here, said an official spokesman.
It was also decided that those sportspersons who have passed the Class XII board examination from Haryana and who have not received any cash award from any other state, would be eligible for such awards from the state government.
Khattar told the meeting only "outstanding" sportspersons should get government jobs.
About three per cent of groups C and D posts in government departments are reserved for sportspersons.
It was also suggested that district grading certificates should be given less importance for recruitment in government jobs, thus giving more opportunities to holders of the State Gradation Certificate which is more tough to get.
