Haryana to set up edu institute in name of Capt Pawan Kumar

Haryana government today said it will set up an educational institute in the name of martyr Capt Pawan Kumar who died while fighting militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district last month.
Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma made the announcement while replying to a question by MLA Prem Lata during the Question Hour in the budget session of the Haryana Assembly.
Twenty three-year-old Capt Kumar hailed from Badhana village in Jind district.
Replying to a question by MLA Aseem Goel, he also announced setting up an educational institution in the name of 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh in Lakhnaur, a known pilgrimage site, in this fiscal.
Sharma said the Education Department had sent a requisition for filling up 20,000 vacancies to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission and recruitment would be done soon.
The process of appointment of teachers was also being speeded up, he replied to a question by Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala and MLA Goel.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that 17
new girls' colleges would be started from the coming academic session.
Mapping work had been carried out to ensure that girls' colleges are located within a 20-km radius of any place in Haryana, he said, adding after which six new girls' colleges have been opened in the state 17 more would be opened soon.
Khattar, in a reply to question, said that Rs 377.54 crore have been recovered as liquidated damages from M Reliance Energy Limited Company for delayed completion of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant at Khedar in Hisar district.
The damages have been fully recovered and the machines were also repaired by the contractor at their cost from time to time prior to final taking over of the plant, he said.
Over difficulty faced by farmers in taking produce to the market due to narrow paths in rural areas, Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar said the paths would be made 'pucca' and widened if the farmers give their land for it, according to the policy of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board.
To a question by MLA Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi, the Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said that no Chief Minister had laid any foundation stone of a college in Taraori town in 1995-96.
He said there were many colleges in the areas surrounding Taraori but the matter would be examined and if required, preference would be given to opening a girls college as the state government is implementing 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme.
The Minister informed the House that a school in Ramgarh village would be upgraded after examining it and assured that a college would be opened in Radaur. Colleges would also be established in Manesar and Raipur Rani in this fiscal.
Sharma said work to implement all education-related announcements made by Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, would commence from this financial year.
Replying to a question by Kalayat MLA Jai Parkash, about land given by Kapilmuni Education Society for a girls' college in Kalayat, the Minister said that the Society has so far not given any land and the matter would be considered after it fulfills the norms.
