Haryana to set up Skill Development Mission for youth

The state government has decided to set up Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM) with an aim of providing quality skill training for the youth and enhance their employability in the market.
The HSDM will provide skill training to the students passing out from schools, dropouts, unemployed youth, informal sector workers, women and other disadvantaged groups in Haryana, an official release said here today.
The Mission will increase employability for the youth and empower them to take part in the economic growth of the State and the country, through skill training at reasonable cost and monitor its delivery, and thereby reducing unemployment, poverty and socio-economic inequality.
A proposal has been approved by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, it said.
The present skill building capacities in various departments, in both the formal as well as informal sectors in Haryana, is 3.30 lakh per annum.
Besides, it will also inspect and monitor the quality of training imparted.
The Mission will map the demand for skill sets in the market and formulate programmes to meet such demand through high quality skill training. It will also develop self employment and entrepreneurial skills for youth of the State, it said.
