This was announced today by Transport Commissioner Sumita Misra, who said the instructions to this effect have been issued to the secretaries of regional transport authorities.
"As many as 1,110 such vehicles have been challaned from April, 2012 to February this year. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has also directed the state to take sufficient precautions to ensure that vehicles that are not authorised for commercial purposes should not be used as such," she said.
Misra said the offenders will be penalised as per the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
